RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1476


A resolution requesting increased funding for the Metropolitan Beautification and Environment Commission for the purpose of enhanced litter control and prevention efforts.


WHEREAS, certain areas within Nashville and Davidson County are in need of enhanced litter control and prevention efforts; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Code provides that a purpose of the Metropolitan Beautification and Environment Commission is to recommend and develop plans for “improving cleanliness within the area of the Metropolitan Government by beautifying the streets, highways, alleys, yards, plots and other similar places”; and

WHEREAS, increased funding is necessary for the Beautification and Environment Commission to fully achieve this purpose.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Director of Finance to increase funding for the Metropolitan Beautification and Environment Commission for the purpose of enhanced litter control and prevention efforts.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and the Director of Finance.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
