RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1450
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Transit Authority to rename the Downtown
Landport facility the “Clement Landport”.
WHEREAS, the “Clement Landport” facility located at 1011 Demonbreun Street is no longer being used by the Metropolitan Transit Authority for mass transit purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transit Authority operates another Landport facility in the Downtown area located behind the Gaylord Entertainment Center; and
WHEREAS, former Congressman Bob Clement has been instrumental in assisting the Metropolitan Government in promoting and enhancing mass transportation in the area of the Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS, Judge Frank Clement has served the community with distinction as Probate Judge and is currently serving as a Circuit Court Judge; and
WHEREAS, Governor Frank Clement, Bob Clement’s and Judge Clement’s father, served with distinction as the governor of the State of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the name “Clement Landport” be transferred to the Landport facility located behind the Gaylord Entertainment Center as an appropriate recognition of the Clement family’s contributions to the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting
the Metropolitan Transit Authority to rename the Downtown Landport facility
the “Clement Landport”.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the chairman and each member of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Board.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
