RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1445


A Resolution recognizing May 4-10, 2003 as “National Drinking Water Week”.

WHEREAS, water follows a natural cycle from Earth to air to Earth again; and

WHEREAS, water is a basic and essential need of every living creature; and

WHEREAS, our health, comfort, and standard of living depend upon an abundant supply of safe drinking water; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County should have a safe and dependable supply of water both now and in the future; and

WHEREAS, we are calling upon each citizen to help protect our source waters from pollution, practicing water conservation, and getting involved in local water issues, and;

WHEREAS, the theme for 2003 is “Drinking Water Counts on You”.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing “Drinking Water Week”.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Scott Potter, Director of Metro Water Services on behalf of “Drinking Water Week”.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
