RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1434


A resolution recognizing the retirement of Gwendolyn Chambliss from service with the Metropolitan Government.


WHEREAS, recently, Gwendolyn Chambliss, Director of Head Start of the Metropolitan Action Commission retired after thirty-three years of untiring service to her staff and the youngest children of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, upon completion of her education Gwendolyn Chambliss began her passion working with children as a pre school teacher, later moving on to teach with the Nashville Head Start program where she taught until becoming Education Coordinator, then stepping into the Director’s position, where she continued to serve until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Chambliss is to be commended for her dedication, timeless efforts for the improvement, growth and development of opportunities and contributions to Nashville’s Children; and

WHEREAS, Gwendolyn Chambliss’ experience, knowledge and dedication for the welfare of our youngest children will be sorely missed not only as the Director but for her positive leadership role in developing innovative programs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Gwendolyn Chambliss upon her retirement and wish her much happiness.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the retirement of Gwendolyn Chambliss from service with the Metropolitan Government

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Gwendolyn Chambliss.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
