RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1433
A resolution recognizing Dr. Terry Michael Kopansky upon his retirement from
service with the Metropolitan Public School System.
WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Michael Kopansky, Principal at Harrris-Hillman (Special
Needs Schools), retired after thirteen years as Principal and over thirty
years of service; and
WHEREAS, while in the Metropolitan Public School System Dr. Kopansky served at many schools in various positions before retiring as principal at Harris – Hillman (Special Needs Schools); and
WHREAS, Dr. Kopansky has been actively involved with many professional organizations, clubs and societies were he is a member of the National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, Metropolitan Nashville Education Association, Tennesseans For Nonviolent School Discipline/President and founder, Rochelle Center, Vanderbilt Forum and served in many capacities with other prominent organizations; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kopansky has received a host of well-deserved accolades, selected for the Fulbright Memorial Teacher Program, Frist Foundation Principal Award, People First of Tennessee, Inc. Community Volunteer Project, Tennessee Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities, the J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award just to highlight a few; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kopansky’s is to be commend for his dedication, knowledge and time less efforts for the improvement of education and caring for students with severe special needs; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kopansky’s experience, energy, and professionalism that will sorely be missed; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Dr. Terry Michael Kopansky for his untiring service to the Metropolitan Public School System and wish him much happiness in his retirement and much success as he embarks on his new career.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Dr. Terry Michael Kopansky upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Terry Michael Kopansky.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
