RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1413


A resolution proclaiming the month of April 2003 as “Fair Housing Month” in Nashville and Davidson County.


WHEREAS, April 2003 has been designated as National Fair Housing Month commemorating the 35th anniversary of the passage of the Federal Fair Housing Act; and

WHEREAS, fair housing laws provide the opportunity for all citizens to reside in decent, safe housing, free from discrimination; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is committed to the concept of a community open to all; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council seeks to ensure that all members of our community are aware of and educated about fair housing laws; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council deems it altogether fitting and proper to promote education and awareness of fair housing laws.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as proclaiming the month of April 2003 as “Fair Housing Month” in Nashville and Davidson County, and urges everyone to work together to make fair housing a reality and commit themselves to fostering a community open to all.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
