RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1401
A resolution supporting employees of the Metropolitan Government and citizens
of Nashville and Davidson County that have been called to active duty
as members of the United States Armed Forces Reserves to serve their
country as a result of the war in Iraq.
WHEREAS, the United States and other coalition members have commenced military
action in Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein from power and to rid Iraq of weapons
of mass destruction; and
WHEREAS, a number of the employees of the Metropolitan Government and other citizens of Nashville and Davidson County serve in the Reserves of the United States Armed Forces and have been called to active duty as a result of the war in Iraq; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council affirmatively show support for the employees of the Metropolitan Government and citizens of Nashville and Davidson County that have been called to active duty as a result of the war in Iraq.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as supporting the employees of the Metropolitan Government and the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County that have been called to active duty as members of the United States Armed Forces Reserves as a result of the war in Iraq.
Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to all Metropolitan Government employees and citizens of Nashville and Davidson County that have been called to active duty as a result of the war in Iraq.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption,
the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County
requiring it.
