RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1399

A resolution requesting the Tennessee State Department of Transportation, Governor Phil Bredesen, Senator Joe Haynes, and Representative Ben West, Jr., to have installed a center turn lane on Lebanon Road, between Stewarts Ferry Pike and Disspayne Drive.

WHEREAS, existing development on the north sides of Lebanon Road, between Stewarts Ferry Pike and Disspayne Drive, includes a church, three subdivisions, and a condominium development; and

WHEREAS, on the south side of this section of Lebanon Road is the historic Clover Bottom Mansion, which houses the Tennessee Historical Commission; and

WHEREAS, Lebanon Pike has had traffic flow which exceeds its capacity for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, the absence of a turn lane to accommodate traffic turning left into the developments creates an extremely hazardous traffic safety condition; and

WHEREAS, installation of a center turn lane at this location would not only promote traffic safety, but would stabilize and enhance the local environment for the residents.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee State Department of Transportation, Governor Phil Bredesen, Senator Joe Haynes, and Representative Ben West, Jr., to have installed a center turn lane on Lebanon Road, between Stewarts Ferry Pike and Disspayne Drive.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Governor Phil Bredesen, Senator Joe Haynes, and to Representative Ben West, Jr.
