RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1387


A resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit an application for the Governor’s Highway Safety Grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the Governor’s Highway Safety Grant Programs to enhance the DUI enforcement initiative; and,

Whereas, the Metropolitan Police Department is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

Whereas, the State of Tennessee requires that the grant application be approved by resolution, motion, or similar act of the applicant’s governing body; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and,

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to submit an application for the Governor’s Highway Safety Grant Programs to enhance the DUI enforcement initiative a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That funds for any required match of dollars received shall be provided through the budgets of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
