RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1376


A Resolution requesting the Nashville Electric Service to review its Vegetation Management Program and address issues and concerns of homeowners and private property owners.


WHEREAS, Nashville Electric Service (NES) adopted a Vegetation Management Program in 2001; and

WHEREAS, this program should be reviewed and possibly amended to promote a more thorough utility service and citizen interaction when addressing the extent of needed cut and trim from power lines and should define the specific distance on utility easement the subcontractors are allowed to vary; and

WHEREAS, the program should be amended to promote improved communications with NES officials and individual homeowners and should consider both immediate and long term impact on individual residential property.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby requests Nashville Electric Service to review its Vegetation Management Program and address issues and concerns of homeowners and private property owners and amend such program to improve its effectiveness and lessen damage to individual residential properties.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the board of NES and to the General Manager of NES.

Section 3. The NES is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
