RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1369

WHEREAS, CABLE will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at the Silver Gala on April 8, 2003, culminating with a day-long conference on April 9th; and

WHEREAS, the 25th Anniversary celebration will commemorate our influence and success as Nashvilles premier business women’s networking organization with this years theme for the event as “Avenues of Leadership”; and

WHEREAS, CABLE is one of Tennessee’s premier organizations that creates diverse networks, promotes opportunities for business and professional women in our community and is a widely recognized and respected organization in Nashville; and

WHEREAS, when CABLE was first organized in 1978 under the sponsorship of the Nashville YMCA their first membership count was about 100; where today, it has grown to more than 400 members strong and offers business women the opportunity to connect with other business women in order to share their skills, find solutions to unique business issues and develop personal skills and leadership ability; and

WHEREAS, CABLE formally recognizes the accomplishments of women through a variety of awards such as The ATHENA Award, The Molly Todd Cup, Networking Award, Promote Women Award, and Spirit of Leadership Award; in addition CABLE co-hosts several events during the year with other women’s professional organizations to expand members networking reach beyond their already impressive CABLE community; and

WHEREAS, in addition to monthly membership meetings, they have a monthly newsletter, quarterly journal, semi-annual membership directories, and an in-depth expanded meeting called SuperSession; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable organization has inspired women to reach higher, go further and most importantly, to link up and support the women of the local business community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes April 8th and April 9th, 2003, as the 25th Anniversary of CABLE and wish them continued success in the future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing CABLE on celebrating its 25th Anniversary.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ellen Bradbury, CABLE President and Pat Pierce, Chair of the 25th Anniversary celebration.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
