RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1366

WHEREAS, Tom Ward, Executive Vice President of Business Operations has played an instrumental role with the Nashville Predators since the franchise’s inception and is well deserving of recognition at this time; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Predators Organization Tom Ward managed all aspects of business operations that included marketing, ticket and suite sales, broadcasting rights, advertising sales, merchandising and game presentation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ward was influential in bringing innovative and creativity in getting people to attend games, buy tickets, along with spearheading season-long marketing campaigns such as “Get Bit”, “Fang Fever” and most recently this season “Welcome to Smashville” along with other unique aspects of the Predators’ game experiences; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ward also played an instrumental role in establishing a relationship with the Nashville’s music industry, helped in extending our radio package with Supertalk 99.7 WTN (FM), made it possible to get additional games televised on Fox Sports Net, included a game-night band for entertainment and promoted and organized performances from many of the music industry’s brightest stars; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ward is to be commended for his timeless efforts, energy and commitment in helping build the Predators Organization to a tremendous level of success; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ward’s leadership, knowledge and experience in developing innovative programs for hockey fans in Nashville and his day to day operation of the Predators Organization will be sorely missed; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Tom Ward for his outstanding contributions to the Predators Organization, all citizens of Nashville and Davidson County and the state of Tennessee, and wish him much success as he moves forward in his career.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Tom Ward upon his departure with the Nashville Predators Organization to return to Charlotte and assist the expansion NBA team.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Tom Ward.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
