RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1363

A resolution recognizing Yvonne Wood as a distinguished community leader in Tennessee.


WHEREAS, Yvonne Wood is a dedicated and devoted leader on women’s issues in Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Wood for the past two years has served with distinction as Chair of The Tennessee Economic Council on Women; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wood has championed women’s issues throughout her life, including lobbying for the very legislation that created the Economic Council on Women; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being president of her own company, Wood Consultants Yvonne Wood has been active in numerous women’s organizations that include President-Elect of CABLE, a past President of the Nashville Women’s Political Caucus, active in the Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus, and serves on the board of the Athena Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wood served in several management roles with state government as Director of Program Integrity for the TennCare/Medicaid program, Executive Director of the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, and as Director of Government Relations with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wood is a mentor for all women throughout Tennessee by helping open doors of opportunity for them; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Yvonne Wood for her dedication to the women of Tennessee and to all citizens of this state, and extend to her best wishes for her future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Yvonne Wood as a distinguished community leader in Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Yvonne Wood.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
