RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1342

A Resolution requesting the Mayor, the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Public Works and the Traffic and Parking Commission to go on record in support of the Hermitage Hotel’s attempt to become the first five star hotel in Nashville.


WHEREAS, the owner’s of the Hermitage Hotel are restoring and remodeling the historic Hermitage Hotel and are attempting to qualify and obtain a Mobil five star rating for the hotel when it reopens; and

WHEREAS, Nashville would benefit from a having a five star hotel for the first time as such hotels with the esteemed rating number very few throughout the world.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby requests the Mayor, the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Public Works and the Traffic and Parking Commission to go on record in support of the Hermitage Hotel’s attempt to become the first five star hotel in Nashville.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, the Director of the Department of Public Works and the members of the Traffic and Parking Commission.

SECTION 3. The Mayor, the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Public Works and the Traffic and Parking Commission are further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
