RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1341

A Resolution requesting the Mayor, the Sports Authority, and the local and national sports media to refer to the football stadium of Metropolitan Government as the “Nashville Coliseum” or the “Coliseum at Nashville”.

WHEREAS, until the Tennessee Titans ownership is able to sell naming rights to the football stadium, they have agreed to use the name “Coliseum”; and

WHEREAS, to help promote Nashville and to help provide directions to the location of the stadium it is appropriate to refer at all times to the stadium as the “Nashville Coliseum” or the “Coliseum at Nashville”.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby requests the Mayor, the Nashville Sports Authority, and the local and national media to refer to the football stadium of Metropolitan Government as the “Nashville Coliseum” or the “Coliseum at Nashville”.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, the Sports Authority, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN, ABC Sports, WKRN Channel 2, WSMV Channel 4, WTVF Channel 5, FOX 17, the official Titans Radio 103.3 WKDF, and all other local radio and print media.

SECTION 3. The Mayor and the Sports Authority is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
