RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1327

A resolution approving a contract between the State of Tennessee Department of Health and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Acting by and Through the Metropolitan Board of Health for the provision of health research studies using data supplied by the Tennessee Department of Health.

WHEREAS, it is beneficial to promote community health assessment and studies that evaluate quality of health care, assess the effectiveness of policy changes or other programs designed to improve quality or economy of care, identify populations of children and of person of other ages at high risk of adverse health outcomes, conduct interventions in these populations designed to improve adverse outcomes, and quantify possible unanticipated adverse or beneficial effects of medications and other therapeutic interventions; and

WHEREAS, access to health-related databases maintained by the State will assist the Metropolitan Board of Health in conducting such studies; and

WHEREAS, this information is confidential and special provisions must be made in order for this information to be released to the Metropolitan Board of Health.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That a contract between the State of Tennessee Department of Health and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Acting by and Through the Metropolitan Board of Health for the provision of health research studies using data supplied by the Tennessee Department of Health, which contract is attached hereto and incorporated herein, be and the same is hereby approved.

Section 2: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
