RESOLUTION NO. RS2003-1308


A resolution requesting the Metro Departments of Finance, Public Works, Water & Sewerage Services, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, and General Services to report to the Metro Council relating to use of vehicles that use alternative fuels.


WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government has numerous motor vehicles which today can utilize alternative fuels, including compressed gas, gasohol, and other alternative fuels; and

WHEREAS, as Metro departments expand their fleet and new vehicles are purchased, consideration should be given to such vehicles that use alternative fuels, especially where performance does not suffer; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that these various departments advise the Metro Council on current and projected use of vehicles that utilize alternative fuels.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metro Departments Finance, Public Works, Water & Sewerage Services, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, and General Services to provide a report to the Metro Council as to the current number of vehicles and equipment utilizing alternative fuels, and the projected use of such vehicles utilizing alternative fuels.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Directors of the Metro Departments Finance, Public Works, Water & Sewerage Services, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, and General Services.

SECTION 3. That the Metro Departments Finance, Public Works, Water & Sewerage Services, Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, and General Services are further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
