RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-989

A resolution proclaiming April 24th - April 26th, 2002, as Asian American Hotel Owners Association days in Nashville, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, since its inception 12 years ago, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) has grown to more than 6,000 members that gather annually to focus on leadership, education and advocacy in the community and industry; and

WHEREAS, AAHOA provides an active forum in which Asian American hotel owners, communicate, interact, and maintain their proper position within the hospitality industry; and

WHEREAS, today Asian American advocacy group members own more than 17,000 hotels representing over 50% of the economy lodging properties in the United States and nearly 35% of all hotel properties; and

WHEREAS, AAHOA and its members act as leaders to members of their community and industry in times of need; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council welcomes the Asian American Hotel Owners Association convention and its members and call upon all Nashville citizens, community agencies, religious organizations, and businesses to participate in the annual convention and tradeshow.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as proclaiming April 24th - April 26th, 2002, as Asian American Hotel Owners Association days in Nashville, Tennessee.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the Asian American Hotel Owners Association.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
