RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-976

A resolution requesting the Mayor, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, The DISTRICT, the Central Business Improvement District, Gaylord Entertainment Company, and the Country Music Hall of Fame to determine the feasibility and cost of installing a sidewalk of stars in the downtown area adjacent to the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame.


WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate to honor country music stars by constructing appropriate stars in the sidewalks adjacent to and in the vicinity of the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, such an addition could provide an additional tourist venue for persons visiting Nashville.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor, the Nashville Downtown Partnership, The DISTRICT, the Central Business Improvement District, Gaylord Entertainment Company, and the Country Music Hall of Fame to determine the feasibility and cost of installing a sidewalk of stars in the downtown area adjacent to the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, to the director of the Nashville Downtown Partnership, to the director of The DISTRICT, to the director of the Central Business Improvement District, to the CEO of Gaylord Entertainment Center, and to the CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

SECTION 3. That the Mayor, the director of the Nashville Downtown Partnership, the director of The DISTRICT, the director of the Central Business Improvement District, the CEO of Gaylord Entertainment Center, and the CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
