RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-974

A resolution requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to submit legislation that would provide equal pension benefits for all employees of the Metropolitan Government.

WHEREAS, the current pension benefit system provides enhanced benefits and more liberal retirement provisions for employees in the Metropolitan Police and Fire Departments; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that all employees of the Metropolitan Government have a unified pension system.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to submit legislation that would provide equal pension benefits for all employees of the Metropolitan Government.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and to the members of the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
