RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-964

A resolution recognizing Dr. Susan Lyle on winning the "Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year" for the State of Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Dr. Susan Lyle, award-winning physical education teacher at Tulip Grove Elementary, has over twenty-three years of experience teaching elementary P.E. and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lyle is committed to improving and promoting physical education to all students at the elementary level by striving to provide physical activities consistent with the developmental needs of the individual; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lyle enables the student to acquire motor and fitness skills and an attitude conducive to a lifetime of physical activities; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lyle enjoys the enthusiasm of small children and their excitement in the learning of new skills-based programs; and

WHEREAS, not only has Dr. Lyle's outstanding teaching of our youngest students been recognized previously through her being named Metro Schools' Elementary Schools "Teacher of the Year" in 1996; and "Teacher of the Year" at both Tulip Grove and Paragon Mills, but incorporated self-assessments for students in the P.E. curriculum, which she helped develop for Metro schools; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Lyle is a superb example of the significant impact that outstanding individual classroom teachers are making on the quality of physical education received by the children of this state; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Dr. Susan Lyle for her diligence, creativity, and commitment on behalf of physical education and congratulate her for receiving this award.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Dr. Susan Lyle on winning the "Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year" for the State of Tennessee.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dr. Susan Lyle.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
