A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of Ameristeel against The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for $47,403.44 and directing that this amount be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Whereas, on December 10, 2001, Ameristeel sustained sever water damage to its new office building as a result of an extensive sewage back up caused by a blockage of grease in the sewer segment maintained by the Metropolitan Department of Water Services; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Department of Law believes that the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and recommends that this claim be compromised and settled and that this amount be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the claim of Ameristeel for the amount of $47,403.44 and that said amount should be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
