RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-938
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to have an actuarial study performed to determine the cost of including deputy sheriffs and correctional officers in the fire and police pension plan.
WHEREAS, sworn police officers and firefighters have a different pension plan than general government and non-emergency personnel; and
WHEREAS, deputy sheriffs and correctional officers in the Davidson County Sheriff's Department perform similar duties that place them in peril; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board determine the cost, based upon an actuarial study, of including deputy sheriffs and correctional officers of the Sheriff's Department as members of the pension plan established for police and firefighters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to have an actuarial study performed to determine the cost of including deputy sheriffs and correctional officers in the fire and police pension plan.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
