A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to reopen the downtown ice skating rink at Riverfront Park.

WHEREAS, the downtown ice skating rink at Riverfront Park, operated by the Metro Board of Parks and Recreation, provides additional areas of entertainment to encourage persons to visit downtown Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the government should support efforts of local businesses to continue to improve downtown areas and make these areas amenable to both tourists and residents; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation reopen the downtown ice skating rink at Riverfront Park.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to reopen the downtown ice skating rink at Riverfront Park.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation.

SECTION 3. That the Board of Parks and Recreation is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2002-937 by deleting the phrase "at Riverfront Park" wherein it appears in the Caption, in the first and third recitals, and in Section 1 thereof.
