RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-919

A resolution expressing sympathy on the death of Metro Police Officer Joshua Haffner and encouraging donations to AmSouth Bank for benefit of his family.

WHEREAS, Metro Police Officer Joshua Haffner was accidentally killed on January 3, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Officer Haffner had completed his training with the Metropolitan Police Department on November 1, 2001; and

WHEREAS, Officer Haffner is survived by his widow, Amy Haffner, and a son, Jake, and his widow is expecting their second child; and

WHEREAS, AmSouth Bank is accepting donations for the benefit of Officer Haffner's widow and family; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council encourage donations to the fund.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as expressing its sympathy to Mrs. Amy Haffner on the death of her husband, Metro Police Officer Joshua Haffner.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council further encourages donations to AmSouth Bank for the benefit of the surviving family of Officer Haffner.

SECTION 3. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Amy Haffner.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
