RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-909

A resolution recognizing the Father Ryan High School "Fighting Irish" girls soccer team on their successful 2001 season.

WHEREAS, the Father Ryan High School girls' soccer team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in girls' soccer with equal emphasis on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, advancing to the inaugural Nashville City Championship Girls Soccer Tournament Father Ryan defeated Harpeth Hall 2-1 in overtime; and

WHEREAS, senior Natalie Blin, was named the 2001 Nashville City Championship Girls Soccer Tournament "Most Valuable Offensive Player" and senior Erin Langteau was named to the City All Tournament Team; and

WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another successful season of soccer with an overall record of 13 wins, 8 losses, and 2 ties; and

WHEREAS, these talented soccer players outplayed and out shot several worthy opponents in advancing to the state playoffs while exhibiting perseverance, team unity and respect for the highest ideals of American sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the excellence of young athletes and wish to congratulate the players of the Father Ryan High School "Fighting Irish" girls soccer team and their coaches for their unparalleled achievements.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Father Ryan High School "Fighting Irish" girls soccer team on their successful 2001 season.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Coaches Robin Dieterich, Kylie Glore and Neil Unland and each member of the Father Ryan High School Soccer Team.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
