A resolution recognizing the 2001 Hillsboro Comprehensive High School "Burros" Football Team.

WHEREAS, the Hillsboro Comprehensive High School "Burros" football team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in boys' football with equal emphasis on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another successful season of football competition by posting an impressive record of fourteen wins and one loss and being named Region 5 Class 4A co-champions; and

WHEREAS, the "Burros" marched through their opponents this season, advanced to the playoffs for their second consecutive year, on Saturday, December 1, 2001, in the inaugural 2001 BlueCross Bowl, becoming Class 4A state runner-ups as a fitting finale to their remarkable 2001 campaign; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team in facing long odds and prevailing is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team, their superb offensive and defensive talents, and the astute direction of Head Coach Ron Aydelott; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its opponents; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Head Coach Ron Aydelott and the Hillsboro Comprehensive High School "Burros" football team for their outstanding season and continued success in the future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 2001 Hillsboro Comprehensive High School "Burros" Football Team.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is hereby directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and each member of the Hillsboro Comprehensive High School football team.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
