RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-899
A resolution recognizing Mr. Bill Beard upon his retirement with the Nashville Electric Service.
WHEREAS, on Monday, December 31, 2001, Mr. Bill Beard, Director of Corporate Affairs, retired from the Nashville Electric Service after thirty-four years of faithful service to his colleagues and the citizens of Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Beard's expertise enabled him to advance in the company having served as Associate Engineer, Training and Safety Assistant, Safety Supervisor, Personnel Director, Secretary to the Civil Service before being appointed to Director of Corporate Affairs in 1994; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Beard has been actively involved with many community and civic organizations including serving on the Board for the America Heart Association, Big Brothers, American Red Cross, American Society of Safety Engineers and other prominent organizations; and
WHEREAS, as Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Beard has been responsible for community, government and board relations; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Beard, as Director of Corporate Affairs, faithfully provided invaluable service to members of the Council that allowed reliable communication to customers and citizens, especially during times of severe storms and weather disasters; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Beard's experience and vast knowledge of the Nashville Electric Service will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mr. Bill Beard for his work and accomplishments with the Nashville Electric Service during his years of service and wish him much happiness in his retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Bill Beard upon his retirement with the Nashville Electric Service.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to Mr. Bill Beard.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
