RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1273

A resolution approving a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, through the Transportation Enhancement Program to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for proposed streetscape enhancements along Nolensville Road, between Interstate 440 and Thompson Lane.

Whereas, Resolution No. 2001-646 approved the submittal of an application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, under the Transportation Enhancement Grant Program; and

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed eight hundred and eighty one thousand nine hundred and eighty dollars ($881,980) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for proposed streetscape enhancements along Nolensville Road, between Interstate 440 and Thompson Lane; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency will administer the grant on behalf of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and provide Community Development Block Grant funds in an amount equal to or greater than two hundred twenty thousand four hundred and ninety five dollars ($220,495) as a local match.

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, to implement streetscape enhancements along Nolensville Road, between Interstate 440 and Thompson Lane, in an amount not to exceed eight hundred and eighty one thousand nine hundred and eighty dollars ($881,980), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is hereby authorized to administer the grant and provide Community Development Block Grant funds in an amount equal to or greater than two hundred twenty thousand four hundred and ninety five dollars ($220,495) as a local match.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
