RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1270


A resolution approving a Cooperative Agreement by and between the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health to continue research for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.


Whereas, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health and the United States Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center have entered into a Cooperative Agreement whereby the Department of Veteran Affairs shall contribute funds to the Metropolitan Board of Health for the purpose of continuing research in the Continuation Phase Therapy for Pulmonary Tuberculosis; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this Agreement be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Metropolitan Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Cooperative Agreement by and between the United States Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center and the Department of Health of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, to continue research involving directly-observed therapy during the continuation phase of treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis, for a term of October 1, 2002 through September 30, 2003, in the amount of one hundred twenty five thousand dollars ($125,000), a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution, be and the same is hereby approved and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
