RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1258
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Police Department to advise the Metropolitan
Council of the current status of the development and implementation of the Amber
Alert Project within the area of the Metropolitan Government.
WHEREAS, on October
2, 2001, the Metropolitan Council adopted Substitute Resolution No. RS2002-769
requesting the Metropolitan Police Department, local television stations, and
cable providers to develop the Amber Alert Project within the area of the Metropolitan
Government; and
WHEREAS, throughout the nation the running of messages on local television stations, cable television channels, and roadside message boards has resulted in apprehension of persons who have abducted children; and
WHEREAS, a well developed and implemented Amber Alert Project within the area of the Metropolitan Government would provide for better safety for our children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Police Department to advise the Metropolitan Council of the current status of the development and implementation of the Amber Alert Project within the area of the Metropolitan Government.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Police Department is further requested to provide the council with such information within the next thirty (30) days.
SECTION 3. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and the Chief of Police.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
