RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1240
A resolution approving an increase in the amount of $100,000 to a grant to The
Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through
the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, from the State of Tennessee,
Department of Transportation, for the development of the downtown greenway.
Whereas, by adopting Ordinance No. 097-861, the Metropolitan Council approved a grant (the “Grant”) in the amount of $640,000 to Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, for the development of the downtown greenway; and
Whereas, by adopting Ordinance No. 2001-624, the Metropolitan Council approved an increase in the amount of the Grant total to $1,260,000; and
Whereas, under the agreement memorializing the terms of the Grant, the Metropolitan Government is now eligible to receive an additional $100,000 in Grant funds, as indicated in the document attached to this resolution as Exhibit A; and
Whereas, Ordinance No. 2001-624 permits amendment of the Grant by resolution; and
Whereas, the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County will benefit by accepting the increased Grant amount;
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. The increase to the Grant is hereby approved.
Section 2. Any further amendment to the Grant must be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving at least 21 affirmative votes.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
