RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1234


A resolution requesting the State of Tennessee to prohibit the issuance of Alcoholic Beverage licenses within the area of the Metropolitan Government at any location that does not meet the requirements for the sale of beer.


WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council has adopted location restrictions to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Davidson County that do not apply to the sale of liquor and wine; and

WHEREAS, the Alcoholic Beverage Commission issues licenses for the sale of liquor and wine, but does not follow such location requirements for the sale of beer; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the sale of liquor and wine by establishments that do not meet the requirements to sell beer should be prohibited.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the State of Tennessee to prohibit the issuance of Alcoholic Beverage licenses within the area of the Metropolitan Government at any location that does not meet the requirements for the sale of beer.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Governor, to the members of the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly, and to the members of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
