RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1218

A resolution approving an amendment to the grant from the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, to establish programs to prepare adult, youth and dislocated workers for re-entry into the labor force to be administered through the Nashville Career Advancement Center.

Whereas, Resolution No. RS2002-1014 approved grant contract no. 01-09-999-909-STATE from the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, in an amount not to exceed eighty five thousand dollars ($85,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the provision of establishing programs to prepare adults, youth and dislocated workers for re-entry into the labor force and to offer training to those facing serious barriers to productive employment to be administered through the Nashville Career Advancement Center under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998; and

Whereas, the parties wish to amend said grant by increasing the grant award by one hundred sixty five thousand ($165,000) dollars for a total grant award of two hundred fifty thousand ($250,000) dollars; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this amendment be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 1. The amendment to grant contract no. 01-09-999-909-STATE from the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center, which amendment increases the grant award by one hundred sixty five thousand ($165,000) dollars for a total grant award of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000), a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute said amendment.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
