RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1206


A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Department of Health to provide notification to residents prior to spraying for mosquitoes.

WHEREAS, due to the increase of the West Nile Virus which is carried by mosquitoes, the Metro Department of Health has increased mosquito spraying in an attempt to reduce the mosquito population and promote health and safety in the area of the Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, although the spraying for mosquitoes does provide an attempt to promote health, it is fitting and proper that notification be given to residents in the area of spraying so that the may take precautions during and after such spraying has occurred.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Department of Health to provide notification to residents prior to spraying for mosquitoes.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of Health.

SECTION 3. That the Department of Health is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
