RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1205
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to provide an
open enrollment period for retired employees to sign up for life insurance.
WHEREAS, when employees retire from the Metropolitan Government they are offered an opportunity to continue in a life insurance program where retired employees pay the entire premium amount; and
WHEREAS, a number of retired employees, through inadvertence or oversight, were not offered this opportunity to enroll in the life insurance program; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that all retired employees have an opportunity to benefit from this group life insurance program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to provide an open enrollment period for retired employees to sign up for life insurance.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board.
SECTION 3. That the Employee Benefit Board is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
