RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1204

A resolution requesting all Metropolitan Government boards, commissions and departments to make annual reports available in certain areas in order to limit production and distribution of such reports in large numbers.

WHEREAS, many Metro Government boards, commissions and departments publish annual reports which are distributed to numerous individuals, including Members of the Metropolitan Council; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that these annual reports be made available to board members and to the legislative body, and to the public, however, massive distribution adds unwarranted costs to the annual budget of such boards, commissions and departments; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that widespread distribution in large numbers be restricted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting boards, commissions and various departments of the Metropolitan Government to make available annual reports at the main public library and all branches, maintain such reports in their offices, and provide one copy of such reports to the Metropolitan Council Office. It is the position of the Metropolitan Council that widespread distribution of such annual reports adds unnecessary and unwarranted expense to the annual budget.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to all Metropolitan Government department heads.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
