RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1173
A resolution requesting the Department of Public Works to remove all trash,
litter and signs from the right-of-way of Metropolitan Government highways and
streets.
WHEREAS, the rights-of-way of the Metropolitan Government has excessive litter, trash and political signs; and
WHEREAS, such litter is unsightly and does not promote health, safety and welfare; and
WHEREAS, it is not legal to erect signs within the right-of-way of the Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Government to maintain our rights-of-way free of such litter, signs and trash.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Department of Public Works to remove from all rights-of-way under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Government all trash, litter and political signs that are within such rights-of-way.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Office is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Director of the Department of Public Works.
SECTION 3. That the Director of Public Works is further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
