RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1169


A resolution recognizing October 5, 2002, as “Hands On Nashville Day”.

WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for local companies, civic groups, congregations and universities to support efforts to foster community involvement in volunteerism and public education; and

WHEREAS, the organization Hands On Nashville has taken local leadership of promoting Hands On Nashville Day by organizing thousands of volunteers for a city-wide school cleanup effort; and

WHEREAS, the Comcast Corporation is a local leader in corporate community service, and has pledged to involve hundreds of employees in the city-wide school clean up effort.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Saturday, October 5, 2002, as “Hands On Nashville Day”.

SECTION 2. Further, that the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the organization Hands On Nashville as a local leader in programs such as “Hands On Nashville Day” that maximize volunteer impact in the Greater Nashville community.

SECTION 3. Further, that the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Comcast Corporation for “Comcast Cares Day”, a national effort of the Comcast Corporation.

SECTION 4. That the Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare copies of this Resolution to be presented to Hands On Nashville and to Comcast Corporation.

SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
