RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1142
A resolution adopting the Floodplain Management Plan for The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County has been faced with over bank flooding and drainage problems over the years that have flooded homes and buildings, closed businesses, disrupted traffic, and presented a public health and safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, the recommended Floodplain Management Plan has been circulated for review by Metro residents and federal, state, and regional agencies, and a public meeting with residents in the identified repetitive loss area held on September 5, 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Floodplain Management Plan, a copy of which is on file with the Metropolitan Clerk, is hereby adopted as an official plan of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
SECTION 2. The Floodplain Management Plan shall be evaluated annually by the Assistant Director of Metro Water Services - Stormwater Division to cover the following points:
a. A review of the original plan;
b. A review of any floods that occurred during the previous calendar year;
c. A review of the action items in the original plan, including how much was accomplished during the previous year;
d. Recommendations for new projects or revised action items. Such recommendations shall be subject to approval by this Council as amendments to the adopted plan.
The annual evaluation of the Floodplain Management Plan shall be provided to the Metro Council and made available to the public and the media.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
