RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1128


A resolution authorizing The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to accept a waste tire storage and disposal grant from the State of Tennessee for the purpose of collection and disposal of waste tires.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Environment and Conservation has made available to the Metropolitan Government a grant not to exceed $435,625 for the purpose of collecting and disposing of waste tires, pursuant to the Solid Waste Management Act of 1991, Tenn. Code Ann. §§68-211-801, et seq; and

Whereas, Ordinance No. BL2002-507 authorizes the acceptance of such grants by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and

Whereas, it is in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government that the grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Government is authorized to accept the grant in an amount not to exceed $435,625 offered by the State of Tennessee for the term July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2003 for the acceptance, collection, and proper disposal of waste tires (which grant agreement is attached hereto and made a part of this resolution), and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute said grant.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after it's adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
