RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1127


A resolution approving an application for a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Office of Emergency Management to purchase specialized equipment to ensure that public safety personnel are properly equipped to respond to possible incidents involving weapons of mass destruction.

Whereas, the Federal Government is accepting applications for the FY 2002 State Domestic Preparedness Program with an award amount of $350,000 to purchase specialized equipment to ensure that public safety personnel are properly equipped to respond to possible incidents involving weapons of mass destruction; and,

Whereas, the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted; and,


Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management’s application for the FY 2002 State Domestic Preparedness Program for a grant award amount of $350,000, to purchase specialized equipment to ensure that public safety personnel are properly equipped to respond to possible incidents involving weapons of mass destruction, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
