RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1121


A resolution requesting the Mayor and the Department of Public Works to reinstitute the previous street paving policy.

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has implemented a portion of the procedure in paving of streets and roads within the area of the Metropolitan Government as recommended in the recently completed audit of the department; and

WHEREAS, under this procedure Members of Council are not consulted as to their opinion on the needs of repaving within their councilmanic districts; and

WHEREAS, a number of council districts will have no streets or roads repaved under this program this year.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Department of Public Works to reinstitute the previous street paving policy.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and to the Acting Director of the Public Works Department.

SECTION 3. That the Mayor and the Acting Director of Public Works are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 thereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
