RESOLUTON NO. RS2002-1114

A resolution authorizing the Mayor to submit an application for a Crime Laboratory Improvement Program grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for the Metropolitan Police Department.

Whereas, the Federal Government is accepting applications for the Crime Laboratory Improvement Grant Program; and,

Whereas, the Metropolitan Police Department is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

Whereas, the Federal Government requires that the grant application be approved by resolution, motion, or similar act of the applicant’s governing body; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted;

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to submit an application for the, Crime Laboratory Improvement Grant Program a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.

Section 2. That funds for any required match of dollars received shall be provided through the budget of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
