RESOLUTON NO. RS2002-1103


A resolution appropriating $100,000 of Urban Development Action Grant Repayment Funds to assist with the renovation and modernization of a grocery store providing goods and services to low and moderate income persons.

WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 090-1112, the Metropolitan Council allocated a portion of payments received in connection with the Capitol Mall Urban Development Action Grant (UDAG) to economic development activities in Nashville's Pocket of Poverty; and

WHEREAS, the renovation and modernization of a grocery store at Shelby Avenue and 6th Street in East Nashville will serve the residents of several public housing developments and their surrounding areas, all located within Nashville's Pocket of Poverty.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That $100,000 of Capitol Mall Urban Development Action Grant repayment funds are hereby appropriated to assist with the renovation and modernization of a grocery store serving several public housing developments and their surrounding areas at a site within Nashville's Pocket of Poverty.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
