RESOLUTON NO. RS2002-1089
A resolution requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to submit legislation that would increase the method of pension calculation for general employees of the Metropolitan Government from one and seventy-five one-hundredths percent (1.75%) of average earnings to two percent (2%) of average earnings.
WHEREAS, the current pension benefit system for employees in the Metropolitan
Fire and Police Departments provides that pension benefits are calculated in
part using two percent (2%) of average earnings; and
WHEREAS, the current pension system for general employees of the Metropolitan Government provides that pension benefits are calculated in part using one and seventy-five one-hundredths percent (1.75%) of average earnings; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that pensions for all employees of the Metropolitan Government be calculated using two percent (2%) of average earnings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board to submit legislation that would increase the method of pension calculation for general employees of the Metropolitan Government from one and seventy-five one-hundredths percent (1.75%) of average earnings to two percent (2%) of average earnings.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor and to the members of the Metropolitan Employee Benefit Board.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the
welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring
it.
