RESOLUTON NO. RS2002-1087

A resolution proclaiming the week of July 14-20, 2002, as Catholic Charities of Tennessee Week in recognition of the contributions to the quality of life that has been made by Catholic Charities of Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee provides many human service programs that benefit the people of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee provides services to all people in need regardless of religious creed, ethnicity, cultural background or nationality; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee responds to the changing needs of the people of Nashville through innovative programs for Hispanic families, residents of the inner city, refugees, the elderly and children; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee works cooperatively with many governments including the Metropolitan Government of Nashville Davidson County and many private agencies to ensure that people are served, needs are met and programs are effective; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee is staffed by dedicated professionals, supported by energetic Board members and assisted by caring volunteers who are united in their mission to enhance and enrich the quality of life for people in need; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee has performed acts of love, goodwill and kindness that have helped thousands of citizens since July 17th, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Catholic Charities of Tennessee will mark the occasion of their 40th anniversary on July 17th, 2002; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Catholic Charities of Tennessee for their contributions and services to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record proclaiming the week of July 14-20, 2002, as Catholic Charities of Tennessee Week in recognition of the contributions to the quality of life that has been made by Catholic Charities of Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Executive Director, William P. Sinclair.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
