A resolution commending the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce and declaring July 23, 2002, as Young Professionals Day in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce (NAJCC) was founded on July 1, 1921, as a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to providing civic and social opportunities within the Nashville community; and

WHEREAS, over the past 81 years, NAJCC members have played an integral role in the Nashville community by volunteering thousands of hours each year in service to the community; and

WHEREAS, the NAJCC has provided a solid foundation as a training vehicle for Nashville leaders, providing young professionals opportunities that are often not afforded to them in the workplace; and

WHEREAS, the NAJCC recognizes the vital role young professionals serve in Nashville's enterprises and the community at large by pursuing the continual advancement and participation of such individuals; and

WHEREAS, the NAJCC strives to provide resources and opportunities to its members in an effort to retain a cadre of young professionals in the Nashville workforce that will serve as tomorrow's civic and business leaders; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County Council recognizes that young professionals serve an important function in the current and future landscape of the Nashville area economy.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as commending the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce and declaring July 23, 2002, as Young Professionals Day in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.

SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
