RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1084

A resolution honoring Mr. & Mrs. Robert V. Lineweaver.

WHEREAS, Robert V. Lineweaver and Mildred Ann Lineweaver, who celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2002, have dedicated their entire lives to providing love and support to their family, and service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Robert V. Lineweaver, a native of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, attended Isaac Litton High School and enlisted into the United States Navy upon his graduation in 1950; and

WHEREAS; Mr. Lineweaver bravely served his country during the Korean War where he was assigned to the U.S.S. Princeton Air Squadron, and ultimately serving aboard a variety of units and ships that traveled throughout the United States and the world; and

WHEREAS, upon the completion of his tour of duty, Mr. Lineweaver began employment with Avco Corporation - Aerostructures Division in Nashville, where he retired after 25 years of service, during which time he also attended the University of Tennessee in Nashville; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure at Avco, Mr. Lineweaver entered the United States Naval Reserve Program in 1962, rounding out 30-plus years of military service to his country, and attaining the rank of Command Master Chief - Storekeeper; and

WHEREAS, together, Mr. & Mrs. Lineweaver chartered and founded Bellevue Patrol & Security, Inc., a successful family business that is known throughout Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Lineweaver raised their family with untiring love and support for their five children (one deceased) and five grandchildren, and through their hard work and sacrifice they built the family business which continues to grow and prosper; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lineweaver has been a member of the Tennessee Defense Force, the Korean War Veterans Association, the VFW American Legion, the Moose Lodge, the Tennessee Sheriff's Association, and the National Association of Veteran Police Officers; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Lineweaver has been a devoted housewife and mother, as well as a member of the American Business Women's Association, Senior Citizens, Inc., the Bellevue Women's Club, and Friends of the Public Library; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor Mr. Robert V. Lineweaver and Mrs. Mildred Ann Lineweaver for their distinguished service to their family and to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and honoring Robert V. Lineweaver and Mildred Ann Lineweaver for their vision and leadership and for their years of public service to the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Davidson County.

SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Council Office is hereby directed to prepare an appropriate commemoration to be presented to Mr. & Mrs. Robert V. Lineweaver.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
