RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1080

A resolution recognizing Bryan J. Lavender upon receiving the prestigious Eagle Scout Award.

WHEREAS, on May 6, 2002, Bryan J. Lavender was presented with his Eagle Scout Award at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor at St. David's Episcopal Church in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the Eagle Award is the highest and most prestigious recognition offered in Scouting, and a candidate for the rank of Eagle Scout must complete a rigorous program of training and must demonstrate his proficiency in selected Scouting techniques and attainment of the highest ideals of Scouting; and

WHEREAS, Bryan is a valued member of Boy Scout Troop 42, is a dedicated young man who has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow Scouts through his active participation, having earned 21 merit badges and completed a community service project that required 80 man-hours and benefited Hillwood High School; and

WHEREAS, as a student at Hillwood High School, Bryan participated and won numerous awards in the fields of track, football and wrestling, and he has been published in his high school newspaper; Bryan also co-wrote and performed a song at the Country Music Hall of Fame, which resulted in him being a contest winner; and

WHEREAS, Bryan has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting principals of honesty, fairness, and service to the community and has consistently conducted himself in a manner becoming an Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that Bryan J. Lavender be recognized for his diligence, determination, and dedication in pursuing and earning the Eagle Scout, the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Bryan J. Lavender upon receiving the prestigious Eagle Scout Award.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Bryan J. Lavender.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
